10. Growing beyond goodbye

As weeks turned into months, Tripti's hard work finally began to show. With every test, her marks improved a little more. She still wasn't the topper, but she no longer compared herself to anyone else. Every better score reminded her that healing wasn't just happening inside her heart—it was slowly reflecting in the life she was rebuilding, one exam at a time.

Yet, even after everything that had happened, Tripti never wished anything bad for Isha. Every time she folded her hands to pray before an exam, she quietly asked for one more thing—that Isha would also do well, find peace, and achieve everything she dreamed of. Some people leave our lives, but the prayers we once made for them don't always leave with them.

She never told anyone about those silent prayers. There was no expectation that things would go back to the way they were. She wasn't waiting for a message or a reunion anymore. She simply hoped that wherever Isha was, she wasn't carrying the same pain. Loving someone from a distance sometimes means wishing them happiness, even when they are no longer part of your everyday life.

Aalankrit noticed that Tripti had changed. Her smile was no longer forced, her confidence had returned, and she faced every exam with determination instead of fear. He felt proud, not because he had changed her, but because she had found the strength within herself to keep moving forward. He had only walked beside her; the journey had always been hers to complete.

One evening, after another good test result, Tripti looked at the sunset and smiled to herself. She realized that healing had never meant forgetting Isha. It meant remembering without breaking apart. She still carried those memories with love, but they no longer held her back. For the first time, she felt grateful—not for the pain she had endured, but for the person she had become because she survived it.
